Use this kit for an island light that has two stems coming down from the ceiling and the light will be oriented perpendicular to the slope of the ceiling. In this situation, without this special canopy kit, the stems will not be able to attach to the light fixture because one pipe will be shorter than the other.
If the island light runs the same direction as the sloped ceiling, you will not need this kit.
